Approach

I led the AI pipeline end to end. After testing character LoRAs in Qwen (fidelity fell short), we built the entire workflow around Nano Banana : developing our hero locations, generating photorealistic locations with dummy talent blocked in per storyboard, then running character swap and dedicated cropped face passes to lock likeness at 4K.

The real challenge was video. Likeness drifted across frames in image-to-video generation, so we traditional compositing in Nuke — tracking talent, patching AI-generated face crops and blending them back in. Every output went through compositing as a core production step, not a cleanup pass. That VFX layer is what made broadcast-quality results possible.

Value

This approach replaced multiple shoot days and impossible to build sets with an iterative, art directable workflow, delivering broadcast-standard work at a fraction of traditional production cost and timeline. It proved that generative AI, guided by VFX craft is a legitimate commercial production methodology.

Challenge

PPG needed a campaign to launch a new platform for professional painters. The concept — Above and Beyond — called for a camera moving through photorealistic, architecturally ambitious spaces, each freshly painted by real talent whose likeness had to hold across stills and motion. Building these environments as sets or in 3D wasn't viable on budget or timeline.
